Biography
Justin Fontenot, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, FAADN, is a Tulane University Program of Nursing faculty member. He started his career as a Licensed Practical Nurse. He later enrolled as a pre-nursing student at Louisiana State University, Eunice, ultimately earning an Associate Degree in Nursing from Excelsior University in Albany, NY. He also earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Western Governor's University and a Master of Science in Nursing Leadership and Administration from the same university. He also completed a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Grand Canyon University and is a current DNP to PhD in Nursing Science bridge student at Texas Woman's University.
Dr. Fontenot has held numerous nursing leadership positions in the post-acute setting across Louisiana and Texas. Before joining the Tulane University Nursing faculty, he was an Assistant Professor of Nursing in Lafayette, LA, teaching across the curriculum from undergraduate to graduate and doctoral courses. Dr. Fontenot is the author of numerous peer-reviewed publications and a book chapter and is the Editor-in-Chief of Teaching and Learning in Nursing. He created an innovative clinical teaching model called Clinical Touch Points and the PREP Framework, which has been empirically tested in research settings and guides various clinical teaching and learning applications today.
