BSN Degree

What is a BSN?

A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in an accelerated format is your first step into the world of nursing. A BSN is an undergraduate degree that introduces future nurses to topics such as patient care technology, research, health promotion, safety and quality within the healthcare system. It prepares you for the exam to become a Registered Nurse (RN) in your state.

A BSN degree, in an accelerated format, offers opportunities for growth and significant earning potential in the healthcare field.

Where can I go from here?

Tulane’s BSN program is built to prepare you to take and pass the NCLEX licensure examination to become a Registered Nurse (RN) in your state. The NCLEX is administered by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN). The test has recently undergone significant changes. The new test evaluates new nurses on their critical thinking skills and determines if they possess the clinical judgement to make the right decisions about patient care. NCSBN found that RNs routinely care for critically ill patients and are responsible for complex decisions.

Our goal is to train competent nurses who can apply and work in any hospital or clinic immediately upon graduation.

RNs can choose to train and specialize in:

Travel Nursing

Flight Nursing

ER Nursing

Surgical Nursing

Pediatric Nursing

OB Nursing

Community Nursing

Hospice and Palliative Care

Managed Care Coordinator

Many nurses with a BSN degree go on to earn higher degrees in Nursing including a MSN to become an advanced practice nurse, a DNP or a PhD.
