Tulane Program of Nursing Receives Full Approval from the Louisiana State Board of Nursing
The Tulane University School of Medicine Program of Nursing was granted full approval by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing (LSBN) for its Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program, marking a significant milestone in the program’s continued development.
The approval follows a period of rapid establishment and growth since receiving initial approval in December 2023. The Program of Nursing admitted its inaugural cohort in Fall 2024 and has since implemented a rigorous, outcome-driven curriculum emphasizing evidence-based practice, interprofessional education, and alignment with the evolving needs of healthcare systems across the region.
The program’s outcomes reflect its academic and clinical strength. Graduates have achieved a 100% first-time pass rate on the NCLEX-RN, exceeding national benchmarks for nursing education. All graduates have also secured employment within the New Orleans region, contributing directly to the local healthcare workforce and addressing critical staffing needs.
Tulane’s Program of Nursing has additionally earned national recognition for program quality. In March 2025, the program received accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) for five years, with no compliance concerns identified during the review process. This accreditation affirms the program’s academic rigor, faculty expertise, clinical partnerships, and support for student success.
