Why Tulane?
Your Nursing Degree Carries the Power of Tulane
Tulane students are on the front lines of life-changing technologies, as well as hometown heroes. Tulanians see challenges as opportunities, and strive to improve the lives of others in our own community and around the globe. That’s Tulane Nursing.
Couple Tulane’s passion for the community with a renowned School of Medicine and you begin to see how Tulane can bring something different to the table for Nursing students. Imagine nursing students and medical students working side-by-side with standardized patients, using simulations to develop unprecedented communication and collaboration skills between future doctors and nurses.
Tulane's Nursing Program is Built on Three Pillars
Tulane has a history and mission of service. The school includes historic Uptown and Downtown campuses that provide complete undergraduate support services. You become part of a network of students, faculty and alumni that are available for you at every step of your journey. Your faculty is Tulane University School of Medicine faculty. Your degree is a Tulane School of Professional Advancement (SoPA) degree. Your education is world-class.
The School of Medicine (SOM) shares the University’s mission to improve the health of communities with a positive, inclusive, and professional learning environment. SOM’s robust research and clinical resources are made stronger by our partnership with LCMC Health. Your Tulane degree makes you part of an established team of healthcare professionals working in some of the largest and newest facilities in New Orleans and across Louisiana.
The School of Professional Advancement (SoPA), Tulane’s dedicated school for working adults students, serves as the admission gateway to the new BSN program. Much like SoPA administers Bachelor and Masters degrees in Legal Studies, Health & Wellness, Exercise Science and Homeland Security, SoPA is the link between you and a Tulane BSN degree.
Become a Full-Time Tulanian
Students in the BSN program are enrolled full-time. That means you have access to everything that it means to be a Tulanian, including student health, insurance opportunities and more.
Clinical classes are in-person at our downtown campus – facilities shared with medical students – and in area hospitals. Requisite classes are held online, asynchronously, giving you the flexibility to learn on your own schedule.
You can have as much of the Tulane experience as you want – from football games to concerts, fitness centers, clubs and activities. You’ll soon find your place as part of the Green Wave – an experience that will stay with you for life.
Only in New Orleans
Tulane students have easy access to the Crescent City's vast cultural offerings. New Orleans is defined by its distinct museums, music venues, art galleries, and restaurants. The city hosts scores of annual festivals including Jazz Fest and, of course, Mardi Gras. There are also plenty of outdoor opportunities in the area – fishing, horseback riding, golfing, and the 350-acre Audubon Park across the street from campus, to name a few. These are some of the characteristics that define life in our remarkable city.
